1. Tartini Square
Piran’s main square occupies the site of a former inner fishing harbour. Today it is named for violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini, who was born in Piran in 1692.
2. St. George’s Church
Climb above the old town to St. George’s Church and its bell tower for one of the best panoramas over Piran and the Gulf of Trieste. The current church gained its Baroque appearance in the 17th century.
3. Piran City Walls
Sections of Piran’s medieval defensive walls and seven historic gates survive today. From the accessible towers, the view stretches across the red rooftops toward the Adriatic.
4. Sečovlje Salt Pans
Continue south to the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park, where traditional salt production remains part of the cultural landscape. Piran’s salt-making heritage extends back more than 700 years.
